you/i

i giggle
at how your lips quiver a bit
when you look at me
with those honey brown eyes
deeper than death valley
carrying a thousand summers
and the softness of rain
each time you touch me
you hush the wildfire in my chest
turning my chaos
into calm
i settle beneath the shade
of your presence
like an oak tree that remembers
every storm it survived
where do you come from?
who built your soul so carefully?
you wear grace
like a second skin
and my heart, somehow
volunteered to guard you
as you drift tonight
i wonder what worlds
your dreams will bloom in
will they smell like rosemary?
will they call my name in wind?
my fingertips memorize you
tracing devotion into bone
pausing at the swell of your lips
where your smile lives like sunrise
and suddenly,
i forget every sorrow
that came before you
