veil

i am not hiding
i am holding
the weight of prayers made by teary eyes
in stitched fabric
black as silence
soft as surrender
strong as memory
they say they cannot see me
but i have never been more visible
to the One who matters
my face isn’t absence
it’s reverence
a hush in a world
that only worships noise
i walk like a whisper
through streets that burn holes in modesty
each glance thrown my way
misses the point
this is not about shame
it’s about power
the kind that doesn’t scream
the kind that chooses what is sacred
behind this veil
i smile at the moon
she too, wears the night
and still, she shines
